The Junior Eurovision Song Contest 2008 was the sixth Junior Eurovision Song Contest, which is the world's largest song contest for children. It was held at the "Spyros Kyprianou" Athletic Centre in Lemesos, Cyprus and hosted by Alex Michael and Sophia Paraskeva. It was won by the Georgian trio Bzikebi, with the song "Bzz..". This is the first song to win any Eurovision Song Contest in an imaginary language. Ukraine took 2nd place and Lithuania finished 3rd. The theme of the event was "Fun in the Sun", despite the fact that there were thunderstorms in Lemesos the day of the contest. The stage, which was designed by George Papadopoulos was nominated for the prestigious international "Live Design Excellence Awards". The design is an abstract composition and consists of a round stage representing the island of Cyprus, real water along the front of the stage, two jetties, the waves breaking and moving away from the island and five sailing boats with oars. For the contest, various changes to the rules were made. One was that adults could assist children to write the songs submitted to their national broadcaster; previously only children could write the songs, with no assistance from adults. Another change was only six people could be on stage during a performance, instead of eight. The most significant change, however, was only half of the vote was decided by the tele-voters. Before the 2008 contest tele-voters completely decided the whole result. The other half of the result was decided by a jury of adults and children.

Although Darby appears to be the main human friend of Pooh and the gang and the leader of the Super Sleuths, Christopher Robin still appears sporadically. Developed by Walt Disney Television Animation, the show premiered on Disney Channel's Playhouse Disney block on May 12, 2007. The show's theme song was written by Jellyfish lead singer Andy Sturmer and is performed by former Letters to Cleo singer Kay Hanley. In Season 2, Chloë Grace Moretz as Darby performed the theme. Also, beginning with this series Travis Oates assumed the role of Piglet, taking over for John Fiedler, who had died in 2005, two years prior to the debut of the series. On July 4, 2010, My Friends Tigger & Pooh has been removed from the Playhouse Disney lineup, while it returned in October with new episodes.

Shipwrecked: Battle Of The Islands 2008 is a United Kingdom reality television series which aired in 2008 on Channel 4s youth programming label T4. The 2008 series is the sixth series of Shipwrecked, and the third series to use the "Battle Of The Islands" format. This series used a different process to determine the winning team. A third secret island known as Hawk Island was revealed to the other two islands in the final week when they returned to evaluate and vote for the team they felt had done a better job of welcoming them back. All the residents of Hawk had been exiled from either the Sharks or the Tigers when they lost out to the other person in their new arrival pair.
Talang Sverige, formerly named Talang between 2007–2011, is the Swedish version of the Got Talent series show where singers, dancers, comedians, variety acts, and other performers compete against each other for audience support and the prize money. The show was broadcast for five seasons on TV4, between 2007–2011, before TV4 put the show on indefinite hiatus. Two years later, on June 19, 2013, TV3 announced that they had acquired the rights for the show and will re-launch the show in Spring 2014 under the name "Talang Sverige".
Children in Need 2008 was a campaign held in the United Kingdom to raise money for Children in Need. It culminated in a live broadcast on BBC One on the evening of Friday 14 November, through to the morning of Saturday 15 November. The broadcast was hosted by Terry Wogan, Fearne Cotton and Tess Daly joined by other guest presenters throughout the night, including Alesha Dixon presenting from BT Tower. The voice-over reading out running totals was Alan Dedicoat. The 2008 event broke all previous records, with a total of £20,991,216 raised by the end of the broadcast.
